Subclass 600 Sponsored Family stream lets a Thai national visit family in Australia for up to 12 months, with the Australian sponsor providing financial support and an enforceable assurance. The sponsor's evidence package (income, residence, relationship to applicant, written declaration) is the decisive part of the application. The Tourist stream of subclass 600 also covers family visits but with shorter typical stays and lighter sponsor requirements. Sponsored Family is the right route for parents and adult children visiting for extended periods.

For visiting family in Canada, the standard TRV (Temporary Resident Visa) permits stays up to 6 months at a time. The Super Visa is a separate longer-stay category specifically for parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens or permanent residents, allowing visits of up to 5 years per entry with multi-entry validity for up to 10 years. The Super Visa requires the Canadian sponsor to meet a Low Income Cut-Off (LICO) threshold, the parent or grandparent to hold qualifying medical insurance, and a letter of invitation. The TRV is the broader visitor category for other family members.

New Zealand visitor visas for family visits permit stays up to 9 months in any 18-month period. The application is filed online through Immigration New Zealand and weighs the family relationship, the New Zealand resident's hosting capacity, and the applicant's ties to Thailand. Parent visit visas have additional documentation around the parent's relationship and dependency status. New Zealand visa fees are higher than peer countries and there is no priority service, so plan around the standard timeline. The NZeTA does not apply to Thai passport holders.

Family visits to the UK are filed under the Standard Visitor visa, the same category that covers tourism. The application form has a section for declaring the family relationship and the visit purpose. The UK sponsor provides an invitation letter, proof of legal status in the UK, and accommodation details. Insufficient evidence of ties to Thailand and weak financial documentation are the main refusal reasons. Apply 90 to 60 days before travel; less than 30 days is too tight. Stays of more than 6 months require a different visa category.

The Q2 visa is the China family visit visa for Thai nationals visiting Chinese citizens or permanent residents in mainland China. Typical short visits are up to 90 or 120 days per entry. The Chinese host provides an invitation letter (sometimes notarized depending on case), proof of identity or residency, and the relationship documentation. Q2 differs from Q1 (longer family residence) and L (tourism). Hong Kong and Macau are separate jurisdictions with their own family visit rules and are not covered by Q2.
