The K-1 fiancée visa lets a Thai fiancée enter the United States for the purpose of marrying a US citizen within 90 days of arrival. The US-citizen petitioner first files Form I-129F with USCIS in the United States. After USCIS approval the case transfers to the National Visa Center, then to the US Embassy Bangkok for the K-1 interview. After marriage in the US the Thai spouse files Form I-485 to adjust status. K-1 cannot be used to enter without intent to marry or to bring an already-married spouse; for that case use the IR-1/CR-1 spouse visa instead.

The UK fiancée visa permits entry for up to six months for the purpose of marrying a British citizen during that window. Within those six months the couple must marry and the Thai partner must switch to the Family visa (spouse route) from inside the UK to remain. The British sponsor must meet the minimum income threshold and the Thai applicant must pass the English language test (typically A1 for entry). Applications go through VFS Global Bangkok. The visa cannot be used for tourism or family visit; intent to marry within six months must be evidenced.

Most Schengen countries do not have a dedicated fiancée visa category. Thai fiancées typically enter on a Schengen Type C partner-visit visa for stays up to 90 days, with the option of marrying in the destination country during the visit. After marriage the Thai spouse usually returns to Thailand and applies for the destination country's national long-stay D visa or residence permit, which differs by country. Subclass 300 (Prospective Marriage visa) lets a Thai fiancée enter Australia for nine months to marry an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen during that window. After marriage the Thai spouse must apply for an onshore partner visa (subclass 820) which then leads to the permanent partner visa (subclass 801). The relationship evidence package is the central scrutiny point and the most common refusal reason. Applicants must have met the sponsor in person and intend to marry within the validity of the subclass 300 visa, with documentation supporting both.
